Introduction to Soldering
Although the basic skills needed to build any electronic project involves soldering, it takes the correct type of
tools and materials to do the job right.
The secret to good soldering is not only technique. Selecting a good solder/desoldering station can make all the difference.
A large range of soldering irons are available and most are suitable for just about any job.
Make sure that you use an acceptable soldering iron for use on your project. A handheld iron from a store is generally not
recommended for use on micro-components and electronic wiring.
There are many soldering stations that can be bought at a reasonable price. Weller, Edsyn, and Pace offer
some nice stations for under $200.00 (US). For more high-end stations you may want to consider using stations
from OKI, JBC, and some other high-end stations from Weller that can cost $300 (US) to upwards of $2500.00 (US).
Purchasing a decent soldering/desoldering station will go a long way in making excellent work of any project.
